Inspiring Innovation

We enable our customers to create exquisite industrial designs.

Unlike the competition, we provide more than just a touch sensor or haptics actuator.

Our cutting-edge architecture allows us to integrate high-precision touch sensing, multi-finger force sensing, and best-in-class haptics all in a single, ultra-thin solution, that’s modular and tuned specifically for each application. This enables our customers to create thinner form factors, advanced industrial designs, and exceptional user experiences.

We also support our customers through the full product development cycle, making sure our hardware meets all specs, and our firmware supports changes in downstream software applications.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga

In 2021, Lenovo integrated our haptic touchpad technology into their flagship laptop, making it one of the first laptops to offer a premium haptic touchpad — and the PC world took notice.

Instead of the same old touchpad Windows laptops makers have been using for years, Lenovo enlisted the help of Sensel to install a touchpad that delivers the closest thing you can get to Apple’s Force Touch trackpads on a Windows laptop. …the result is one of the most accurate and responsive touchpads I’ve ever used.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold 16

In September 2022, Lenovo announced the 2nd generation of their ground-breaking folding laptop. They partnered with Sensel to include a haptic touchpad in the Bluetooth keyboard, making this the world’s first haptic touchpad in a wireless keyboard!

Now, that new keyboard is much larger and full-sized. Indeed, it’s effectively the same keyboard as the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Nano with one big difference: The touchpad is haptic and not mechanical. To save space and give more of a natural feel, Lenovo leveraged haptics to simulate what an accurate touchpad feels like, which they also used in the ThinkPad X1 Titanium.

Lenovo ThinkPad Z13 and Z16 Gen 2

In February 2023, Lenovo announced the ThinkPad Z13 and Z16 Gen 2, both of which are upgraded with Sensel haptic touchpads. These are the first true all-Sensel technology touchpads, with Sensel providing the touch-sensing, force-sensing, and haptics.

Lenovo ditched the old solution and opted for Sensel’s design, which speaks volumes about how much better Sensel is at this than other haptic providers.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon & X1 2-in-1

In December 2023, Lenovo announced the new ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 12 and X1 2-in-1 Gen 9 (formerly known as Yoga) models. Both models feature an optional upgrade to a 120 x 70.5 mm haptic touchpad from Sensel, which is 26% larger than the traditional clickpad. The haptic touchpad configurations of both models will be available starting March 2024.

This new, bigger glass touchpad design with integrated TrackPoint buttons was first featured on the ThinkPad Z13 of 2022, though this time, the hardware is supplied by Sensel – we reported on this supplier of haptic touchpads before. In our short time with the new X1 Carbon G12, the haptics of the touchpad were excellent, with extremely good feedback.

In December 2023, Dell announced the new XPS 14 and 16. This was a major milestone for Sensel, as it was our first time shipping in Dell laptops, and also our first seamless glass haptic touchpad designs.

Dell uses a Sensel haptic trackpad, a different vendor from the one used on the previous laptop that sported this type of touchpad, the XPS 13 Plus. I’m happy to report that this one feels much better. Tracking and clicking all feels super smooth and precise, much like those found on the MacBook Pro or Surface Laptop Studio.

“It is NOT an overstatement to say that this will change how we interact with our computers.”

Bottom line – laptop makers, if you haven’t yet, get in touch with [Sensel]…because every other trackpad feels terrible now that I’ve used it.”

“[Sensel’s] tech is now shipping in Lenovo’s ultra-mobile convertible laptop, but there is a good chance we’ll see it from other PC makers too. …For now, the takeaway is haptic touchpads for Windows PCs are finally here, and the first impressions are excellent.”

February, 2021

“[Sensel’s Haptic Touchpad] prototype is spot on. It has a smooth glass finish and recognizes multi-finger gestures flawlessly. Honestly, it’s undeniably better than the trackpad on my two-year-old Dell XPS 15.”

January, 2021

“As soon as you tap and click on it, you notice the difference. Haptic feedback is far more capable than a physical clicking mechanism because the force can be adjusted to suit your preference, and you feel a uniform clicking sensation no matter where you press the pad.”
