Sensel is a VC-funded startup located in Sunnyvale, CA. We’re enabling people to enjoy more expressive interaction with their devices using the world’s most advanced touch technology. Our first product, the Morph, won “Best in Show” at SXSW 2017, and is currently shipping to customers worldwide. We’re integrating our pressure-responsive sensors into trackpads, displays, and everything else that involves human interaction. Senior Electrical Engineer

Do you thrive on innovating for consumer electronics hardware? Are you an experienced and creative System Engineering Lead? Come help us and lead electrical development efforts for Sensel’s product lines, based on the world’s most advanced touch technology.

Responsibilities
  • Work with Product Management to define features of touch sensor prototypes and products
  • Create schematics and layout PCBs using Altium
  • Develop and run tests to validate functionality of new features prior to release
  • Work with fab and assembly suppliers to get boards fabricated and assembled, locally and overseas
  • Work with senior engineers, supply chain managers and suppliers to choose and procure parts
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware issues in the factory and from the field
  • Develop functional tests to support factory builds & work with contract manufacturers to resolve test failures
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers and firmware developers to create industry-leading touch devices
  • Participate in EMC and Regulatory process
  • Assist with development of custom batteries for future products, support existing battery in production
Requirements
  • Skilled in board design, signal integrity, and analog circuitry
  • Have designed one successful product from concept through mass production
  • Experience in selecting components & creating electrical schematics and layout
  • Understand board & system level communication interfaces (UART, I2C, SPI, USB)
  • Knowledge and experience using standard electrical test tools including bench power suppliers, oscilloscopes, digital multimeters and function generators.
  • Understanding and experience with PCB manufacturing process, DFM rules, PCBA assembly process and DFA for SMT
  • Experience designing systems with consideration for reliability testing, including HALT and HASS
  • Understanding of common factory tests, including flying probe, X-ray and ICT
  • Experience generating electrical bills of material
  • Ability to manage projects and deliver according to a schedule
  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering
Bonus Skills
  • Experience with touch technology, mobile devices, power and battery management
  • Experience with EMC testing and best design practices and resolution of issues arising from regulatory testing
  • BLE and RF system design principles
  • Resistive force sensors
  • HDI designs and flexible PCB
