Sensel is a growing startup headquartered in Sunnyvale, CA, which recently closed its Series B round. We’re building the next generation of interactive touch technologies, enabling people to enjoy more intuitive and expressive interaction with the devices we use every day.
Sensel was founded in 2013 and in 2015 launched the award-winning Morph, which brought the infinite modularity of a touchscreen to a tactile controller. In 2021, we entered the PC market, enabling the haptic touchpads in Lenovo’s ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga and other laptops. Today, we’re integrating our touch sensors, force sensors, and haptics into touchpads, automotive interfaces, phones, and other devices which utilize human touch.

The Morph was the first commercially available example of what can be done with Sensel’s technology. It wowed the SXSW crowd in 2017, winning Best in Show, and was named the best MIDI controller of 2019 by MusicRadar. After selling out in 2021, the Morph was discontinued, primarily due to supply-chain difficulties and a shift in Sensel’s focus to our enterprise customers.
The Morph is loved by many musicians and technologists, and made a mighty impact on the world of expressive controllers in the music industry. It was a fantastic reference device for manufacturers, showing the world what’s possible with Sensel’s cutting-edge technology. The Morph was just the beginning, and led to Sensel’s technology being adopted into the haptic touchpads of Lenovo’s ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga in 2021, along with other laptops since.
